My Wedding Ring Is Stuck – What To Do

It’s happened to everyone at least once in their life. There are several reasons why a wedding ring can become stuck, but we will go over the most common reasons and what you can do to fix it yourself.

Wedding rings are designed with a prong that helps hold the ring in place on the finger. Over time and with use, this prong may break down or wear down and become loose enough for the ring to slip off of the finger. When this happens, it’s easy for a wedding band to become stuck on a knuckle or on any other part of the finger besides the intended location. Here are some tried and tested methods that have worked for countless men before you:

Method 1: Using a nail file

It may sound simple, but this is one of the most effective methods to use. All you need to do is hold the ring in place with your thumb and push the file against it. You can use any type of nail file that you have available. The smoother it is, the better it will work. If you’re not sure how smooth it is, then you can try using a fine grit file first and then a coarse one. If this doesn’t work, then try using an emery board instead.

Method 2: Using pliers

You may have seen people do this before on YouTube or other places online, but this method requires extreme caution and care. This is because it could damage your ring in some way if you don’t handle it properly. Also, keep in mind that some rings may be made of metal which would mean that you will have to remove them from your finger before applying force with pliers.

Method 3: Using a drill press

If you have a drill press, then this is the best method to use. The reason for this is that it would be easier to work with. Also, using a drill press means that you don’t have to be too careful and you can keep the pressure on for longer than if you were using pliers. However, if you don’t have a drill press at home, then this method is also viable since there are various kits available that allow you to use your power drill in order to do the job.

Method 4: Call the jeweler

If none of the above methods work for you, then you can always try contacting the jeweler to have your ring fixed. However, this method does require you to have an appointment with your jeweler.

As you can see, there are many ways that you can use to get your wedding ring unstuck from your finger. It just depends on how desperate you are to get it off of your finger as quickly as possible. The only thing that matters is that you’re able to get it out of there safely and with minimal damage to the ring itself or to yourself.
