My Wedding Ring Is Loose – What To Do

Wedding rings have come a long way from the old fashioned gold band. Today, it is possible to get a wide variety of rings to choose from, including rings with diamonds, semi-precious stones, and even designs that can be customized with personal engravings. But while the rings themselves are getting more elaborate, it is still important to take care of them and make sure they are not too loose or too tight.

Many people believe that wedding rings should fit like a glove on their finger and they should not be able to slip off or be adjusted in any way. But this is far from the truth. If your ring fits loosely or if it slips off your finger, you can be at risk for other problems such as catching on something and getting cut or injuring yourself while you are trying to remove your ring.

What To Do

While many people wear their wedding rings loose because they don’t want them to bother them during everyday activities such as sleeping or working out at the gym, there are other reasons why your ring may appear loose. It could just be that you have an old ring that has become stretched out over time due to wearing it all day every day for years on end. The same can be true if you are one of those people who has always worn a ring on their ring finger and has never had it sized.

In addition, your wedding ring may appear loose if you have had it sized at a jeweler who did not properly size the ring to your finger. Or, if you wear a ring that is too big for your finger, the band may seem loose as well. It is important to keep in mind that not all rings are created equal and that each ring has its own unique size, shape, and width. The best way to determine the proper fit for your wedding band is to have it sized by a professional jeweler who will take into account the length of your finger.

How To Fix It

If you believe that your wedding ring is too loose or too tight for comfort, there are several things you can do to help fix the problem. First, try tightening up the chain by putting some pliers on each end of the chain and twisting them in opposite directions until they no longer move freely. Then check again to see if the ring fits more comfortably.

If it still feels loose, take your ring to a jeweler who can resize it properly. If you have had your ring sized at a jeweler in the past, ask them to make sure that they have done a proper job of sizing it and that they remove the right amount of metal from the band so that it fits properly on your finger. If you wear an old wedding ring that has become stretched out over time due to wearing it all day every day for years on end, have the band cut off and then new rings made with the correct size in mind.
