Ceremony Locations At Comlongon Castle
At Comlongon Castle Wedding Venue there are several delightful locations to hold your wedding ceremony. Once you have booked your wedding with us you are free to choose the location of your ceremony. It is often the case that you may choose the location of your ceremony, or change your mind on the day, depending upon weather, if your celebrant agrees.

The Great Hall
Have your wedding ceremony at Comlongon Castle in the Great Hall lit by the glow of firelight The Great Hall of the 600 hundred year old Castle is our main room to host wedding ceremonies. Forming the most important part of the Medieval Castle it has a handpainted ceiling, decorated with a plethora of shields and heraldic devices and colourful banners, lit by candlelight and a huge blazing log fire.

Please be aware that due to the age and nature of the building that this room is accessed by a spiral stone staircase and is not suitable for disabled guests. Once you have booked your wedding with us you have the choice on the day as to the location of your ceremony, subject to arrangements with sub-contractors.

For those guests who have mobility restrictions the lower hall is a more suitable venue.

Lower Vaulted Hall
The Lower Hall of the Castle is suitable for smaller groups and is accessed by climbing four stone steps. Once the storage basement for the Castles supplies, it has been converted to allow weddings to be performed. This stone vaulted room houses the ancient fresh water well, originally the only source of water for the Castle. Lit by candlelight with displays of weapons and banners, this room provides a more intimate location than the Great Hall.

The Crannag
two pipers in the crannagThe Crannag (an ancient Scots word for a meeting place) is in the form of a semi-ruined chapel in the gardens. It offers stunning views across the gardens. A roofless outdoor venue this is more suitable for summer weddings for those couples who wish to marry outside.

As this location is very well lit it offers the perfect location for evening weddings or Lairds Blessing ceremonies.

The Dovecot
the dovecote at comlongon castleOur recently converted sandstone Dovecot is the perfect location for smaller intimate weddings. More suitable for parties of less than 10 it stands in the middle of the gardens at one end of our wedding path. Although roofed this venue is more suitable for summer weddings. However many couples tend to have their ceremony here whilst their guests witness this ceremony form the entrance.
